Nazareth – Today, the Arab Association for Human Rights (HRA) welcomed the UK-based National Union of Teachers (NUT) and Palestine Solidary Campaign at the HRA home office in Nazareth. Mohammad Zeidan, General Director of the HRA, spoke to about 15 representatives of the two groups about the mission and work of the HRA and presented on current and ongoing human rights violations and abuses against the Palestinian Arab minority within Israel.
Director Zeidan spoke specifically about the forms of discrimination that Palestinian Arabs face in their daily lives, including discrimination “on the street” resulted by the public opinion supporting discrimination and racism, as well as structural discrimination affecting educational, employment, housing, and economic outcomes for Palestinian Arabs in Israel.
Zeidan also highlighted the recent discriminatory laws and governmental proposal of laws. Laws that aim to limit basic citizen and human rights of the Palestinian Arab Minority, and threatening to delegitimize essential freedoms. The HRA objects to all forms of discrimination against Palestinian Arabs in Israel, and works to research and record discriminatory measures and to hold Israel accountable via domestic and international advocacy.
The HRA looks forward to future opportunities to connect and collaborate with the National Union of Teachers and Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
