An Open Letter to Mitt Romney from an American Living in Israel (Intern Blog)
Mr. Romney,
Welcome to Israel! As an American living here in the Holy Land I am thrilled that you are coming to visit. Your statisticians surely could tell you this, but I have to say that this visit is quite exciting for people like me. I’d like to help you out though, because there are some tricky problems here. I’ve been here a few weeks longer than you and I have some advice you can use. First order of business: try the hummus, it’s excellent. The second point is a bit more complicated. Here goes:

ِِA Tale of Two Cities (Intern Blog)
When I was first planning my trip to Nazareth I did some basic research on the city’s history and demographic situation. I understood that the Palestinian Arab minority in Israel lived alongside the Jewish majority, but in only those vague terms. When people would ask me what I was getting into I was able to tell them a few simple facts to assuage feelings of discomfit they held on behalf of my future. “They have a soccer team there. It is in the 2nd division of the Israeli league. You know, it’s where Jesus grew up, there’s a big church. The population is about 110,000, and that is made up of Christians, Muslims, Jews.”

Racial Profiling against Arab Passengers by Israeli Airports and Airlines
Racial profiling usually occurs when the official institutions of a state – its security forces or any other institution – adapt the way they treat individual citizens on the basis of considerations relating to their national, ethnic, or religious affiliation, rather than on the basis of concrete and specific information regarding the individual.

The Terror Attack in Shefa'amr
On August 3, 2005, at 17:05, the terrorist Nathan-Zadeh boarded Egged bus 165 from the Checkpost bus station in Haifa to Shefa'amr via the “Krayot” area. Nathan-Zadeh, aged 19, a soldier absent without leave from the IDF, was originally from Rishon Lezion. He had recently become an observant Jew, had close links with activists in the Kach movement, and was living in the settlement of Tapuach in the West Bank The terrorist pretended to be asleep until the bus entered Shefa'amr. The bus driver, the late Michel Bahouth (aged 56, hereinafter “Michel”) turned to the terrorist and pointed out that he was in Shefa'amr. He reassured him and told him not to worry, and said that he would make sure that he got back to Haifa. Evidently Michel assumed that the terrorist had fallen asleep and had missed his stop before the bus reached Shefa'amr. Later, Michel and the terrorist returned to Haifa in an Egged vehicle.
